Here's a few more wire bails.... Onyx agate front... back... A piece of tourquoise maybe? back... A piece of picture jasper...I donated this one as a door prize at a bazzar and the winner just loved it, she really seemed thrilled... we didn't sell much, but that sure made me feel good .... the back... and now for the two hole designs... more picture jasper... back... flourite.. back... Idon'tKnowIte... and varisite... I also finally started an Etsy shop.... www.etsy.com/shop/OneOakJewelry .... nothing there really yet, but I'll keep you posted. Chris

I especially like the bail on the "turquoise". I also like a lot the back-side of the bails on the picture jaspers. You should make those tiny "wings" on the front of the cabs, they don't hide too much from the stone but hide the hole(s).

I really like all of those, Chris. I wish I knew how to make the precise little crimps you have at the corners. And some of them look like the design on the "leftover" wires might include flattening the wires - but I cannot imagine how you would do that with the wire already on the stone! Amazing work, and you have a great sense of design!

Very nice work.. Is it bad if I think I like the back side of the bails as a front? Excellent wire work EITHER side...

Those are great Chris! I suspect that the Turquoise is Chrysocola in Quartz. Really pretty! Fran

I love your bails Chris, but what are you using to drill? The holes are mushrooming, from what it looks in the photos. I've been using my dremel and a small vice under water to drill and I don't get that "countersunk" appearance. I know it probably doesn't detract from the cabs when normally viewed, but up close it is a minor distraction. Just a comment, I don't mean to be negative...

Here's another vote for making the "backs" the "fronts". Nice work!

Chris, your bails look great. I also love the tiny designs at the hole.

Thanks guys, as always... you all are just too kind  ... I especially like the bail on the "turquoise". I also like a lot the back-side of the bails on the picture jaspers. You should make those tiny "wings" on the front of the cabs, they don't hide too much from the stone but hide the hole(s). Adrian Actually Adrian, I did a few with the design on the front... I'll post them here soon ( they are on my Etsy page, see my sig. ). These were just practice really, I was just trying to see what I could do with the wire without mangling it ( notice I didn't show the back of a couple ). Tom For the crimps or points, I just use some flat nose pliers and alot of pressure. No flattened wires...That flourite piece really had me nervous. That stuff is so soft, I was worried I was going to blow out the space between the two holes. Those are great Chris! I suspect that the Turquoise is Chrysocola in Quartz. Really pretty! Fran Chrysocola in Quartz? Could be, I really didn't think it was turquoise, I was just guessing. It did seem really soft. I kind of round out the edges of the holes with a ball shaped bit after I drill them. I only do that because the wire is bent so tight to the stone it rounds out the hole anyway when it pivots, so it is just a precaution to keep it from chipping. On the two hole designs I carve a groove between the two holes so the wire is countersunk into the stone. I also round out the edges of the groove because it has a kind of sharp edge... You are right though, it really does show up in the photos.... gee, thanks for noticing, lol ....
