Here is some opal I bought a a gem show last weekend. Then some cabs I made Sorry photography not my strong point! But, trust me, they are nice with some great blue-green flash.

Louisiana opal is the hardest thing to photogragh, I have been there its tough, But you did a good job on the cabs... NIIIICCCE

There is opal in La. but the mine has been shut down. Not much left out there, it is getting harder to come by.

I've never heard of Louisiana Opal being heat-treated. I think it's a Quartzite matrix, not the same matrix as some of the other Opals that are treated. I have a good amount of this stuff left, so I guess I could experiment if anyone had a reason to believe it can be "cooked." (By "good amount," I mean I have plenty enough for me to work for myself, probably not any I want to sell. )
VERY difficult material to photograph but I can see some nice flash in those photos. Didn't even know that it was still being sold but Nice Work.

I used to do opal exclusively and tried to find some of this material but was never able to. Wonderful material and superb cabs!!
