Ok, I guess the title isn't nice, but after all the complaining we all do about packages being lost, this nice lady got the other end of that Karma... I bought some frame sliders for my motorcycle off ebay, and was expecting delivery any day now. Jennifer woke me up at 10:30 this morning (I'm on the graveyard shift this week) and said I have a package being delivered, and I will want to come see this. I said "big deal, it's a delivery - let me sleep" but she insisted I'll want to see this... So I get up and go look out the window at the driveway. Lo and behld, there's the Fed Ex truck half in the ditch off the side of my driveway... Guess I did want to see it! ;D I bet her day went down hill from there... Probably had to do a drug test, fill out tons pf paper work, yadda yadda... Moral of the story - Look where you're going! The tow truck came, hooked a chain on the front of the van and pulled her out safely. It all ended well for us here at least... Have a great night everyone! Nate

ugh, I did my "good samaritan" act yesterday in the snow. Decided to run to the grocery store to get some sodas, as I hadn't been out of the house for three days due to the weather. So borrowed the wife's van, I really just wanted to see the road conditions, and headed the half mile to the Bloom store.
Coming up to the first of two tight bends on the road into the peninsula I live on and see the guy in front of me tapping his brakes, then see this car coming at us sideways, slips off the road butt first into a ditch. So he and I pull up in the next driveway and walk, no, skate, back to this person's car. The road is now a solid sheet of ice, and even going to the grocery store was a bad idea.
Two nice ladies in a Lincoln, and the arse end of the car is jammed up on the opposite side of the ditch. Finally got her out after about 20 minutes of huffing and pufffing and near heart attack, and when she pulls away, we've now got a crowd, and all the guys start laughing at me. Guess I was right behind the right rear tire and while she's hammering the gas pedal I was getting sprayed with mud.
So here's your visualization - no photos please - I'm standing there in sweat pants, sweat shirt hoodie, slippers, and from my right foot all the way to my right shoulder is a band of splattered mud.
The lady drove off and didn't even say thank you!

Jeezee I hate that Chromenut when you don't even get a holler Thanks. As far as the Fed Ex truck is concerned , around my home they ALL drive like bats out of Hell ! They roar up my driveway like they are going to a fire , then slam on the brakes . I have issues with that because I have a pet grooming business & customers are coming & going with their pets and a few times there were close calls. Sooo she was probably Driving to Fast.

I know what you mean Nancy, the delivery vehicles roar down my road usually, but she wasn't driving too fast. She actually was trying to back in the driveway. I think Donnie hit the nail on the head. It's tough to see the sides of the driveway, and it all blends together when it's really crappy out and I haven't cleaned it up yet. The ditch is probably 4 feet below the side door on the van but all filled with snow. I'm glad the van didn't tip over. That would have been a mess. Robin, good for you for helping. The ladies were probably all flustered and glad to get moving again, and just forgot to thank you... You may have gotten all muddy, but at least you weren't all dressed up. Nate

I know, my wife LHAO at me when I got home and told her the story. She was getting a bit concerned as I only went 5 minutes away to pick up a couple of items at the store, then came home 40 minutes later. Ho hum, I'm sure they appreciated it, until they got home and looked at the back end of that car and how trashed it was from slamming into the embankment.... FedEx driver, prpbably didn't even get a reprimand! lol

Oh I beg to differ! I bet the fed ex driver had to take a drug test and fill out some sort of incident report. Probably came with some discipline too, if not getting fired...
I work with a guy that drove a truck that delivered LP (gas grill) tanks. He got fired for being in an accident, and he was rear-ended. Not his fault whatsoever. Usually delivery type of jobs have tough rules, because they want their safety record to look good.
