Has anyone tried wrapping wood, not rock? If you have, is it easier/harder? Any finished pieces I can see?

Eileen, great idea. I haven't wrapped any wood. I've been wanting to groove wrap some English Spattled Beach wood into an unusual pendent. I did make a ring for my granddaughter out of a pine knot and some copper. It was easier to work the wood into a cab and sand to a nice polish.

I make Celtic design rhythm beads for horses, which doesn't mean a lot of if you aren't a horsey person Like this: Anyhow, a couple of people have asked if I could do a similar thing -- without the bells, of course -- but on a smaller scale for people to wear. It's doable, but there comes the question of the best way to hang them. I was looking at some cabochons and thought that the simple round knotwork ones I make might look pretty nice with a simple wrap and a bail set-up or a groove wrap, as you mentioned. Eileen

Is that a roach clip I see on that necklace ? I have a teardrop cab made out of desert ironwood that I've been wanting to do something with. Iron wood works up real nice on a cabber, but final polish has to be done by hand. Don

I have wrapped driftwood into a pendant before, they turn out nice. As far as it being harder I think that they are both slippery and don't see any difference. The pendant that I wrapped was a custom piece for a friend.

I use gourds, pyrography and paint to make the pendants. Everything is coated with a matte shellac to protect it from sweat. They wouldn't shine for long if I just polished them. Eileen

The gourds I have right now have a very thick skin and I should be able to set a groove fairly well. Eileen

Sure, Nate, but should i put it here? I mean, I'm not wrapping a rock and this forum is for wrapping rocks. I'll probably post it in "creations". Might be better anyhow 'cause when you wrappers see how I wrap you're going to choke yourselves to death laughing

Creations would be fine I guess. Although this forum is called "Wire Wrapping", isn't it? Nate
