My addiction began with a trip across Canada last summer when we stopped by Thunder Bay’s Amethyst Mine ”Panorama”. After picking up 10 lbs of Amethyst and adding a tumbler to my birthday list. My wonderful husband granted my wish with a Thumler's AR12 Rock Tumbler on my birthday. I recently ordered 2 -3 lb barrels since living in South Center Pennsylvania doesn’t provide me the opportunity to dig rocks in my back yard to keep the 12 pounder filled. Well at least not till the snow melts. I may have to get a dog to cover up the holes I’m tempted to dig. I can see it now “don’t look at me dear, the dog did it” ;D
I guess my best find so far was a basket of 100 yr old Kentucky slag glass that I purchased for $5.00 from a flea market while home in Kentucky -while shopping for agates and jasper to tumble. It was amazing what was under all the rough outer layer. It was really hard to hide my excitement when someone would ask what I got for Christmas. I would say “a box of rocks” with such a smile on my face. I would get this look like I had 2 heads or something. I was just thinking only my new found friends to be on RTH would understand!!!
I really enjoying all the post and look forward to future post, trades, buying, digging, tips, picture postings and getting to know lots of new people. Thanks for all the wonderful information.

Welcome Tracy, to the best little world of rocks around. Lots of good people and knowledge here. And hey, when did you take my picture to use as your avatar?

Wow, would love to see that slag glass, going to try and get me some one of these days. Never worked it before. Welcome to the RTH, home for wayward rock hounds!
