Hey guys, Well, I was going to say," I've been busy ".... but I only have three wraps to show, and after seeing Steve's post ( forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=wwp&action=display&thread=42499 ) I seem like a slacker, LOL .... really sweet work there Steve! I really want some of that " local stuff " . But anyway's.... here's what I've got to show.... First a piece of opalized wood, wrapped in 21ga silver.... this one didn't quite turn out how I wanted it to... but hey, it's staying like it is... just another design I can try again later. Next is a really cool shaped brazilian agate. I was going for a ying-yang, but the shape of the stone wasn't guite perfect for it. So I ended up with a ying yang like wrap... still pretty cool though... This wrap used four wires, I sure made one heck of a bail huh? This cab was pretty darn small, now I know what Randy feels like. Also, it sure was tricky stashing all the wire ends in the back so you can't see them through the front. And last... another onyx agate cab I got from e-bay. I only had about 18 inches of wire left so I just used 2 wires for this one... I really like how this one came out.... Well, what do you think? Chris

Amazing... How the heck did you get that wire twisted just between the bind wraps on that last one?

I love them all. But that last one is exceptional, even for you.

Thanks y'all. Fran, I still need to get to my mom's to see what you sent... Amazing... How the heck did you get that wire twisted just between the bind wraps on that last one? Nate Well Nate.... I'm glad you noticed that, it was a pain... First I measured across the bottom of the stone. Then I marked the center of the wire, and where the two binds on the bottom would begin with a fine sharpie. Then I grabbed the wire on the center mark with my round nose pliers, and twisted with my flat nose pliers at one bind mark. After that I twisted the wire in the opposite direction on the other bind mark. Just polish off the sharpie marrks and there you go.... ... I hope that makes sense... I also found out that it is suprisingly easy to untwist the wire if you twist too much.... try it with some scrap wire sometime, just twist it up then try untwisting it... I love them all. But that last one is exceptional, even for you. Funny thing about that last one Amy... I actually messed it up. After I made the bail I decided to add the little curls on the front to distract your eyes away from the screw up. Did it work? Can you see where I messed up?

Exceptional work, as always .... well, "as always" doesn't fit very well here, as you keep coming with new designs each time. Adrian

Thanks for the explanation Chris. I did notice the twists are opposite each other and thought you worked from the center out, but wasn't sure how you'd stop at an exact spot... Very cool! Nate

Hi Chris,
Those are fantastic. I really admire your talent!
Questions - Your wire looks extra bright. I'm wonder if you polish it somehow? And if so, do you polish before or after your wrap?
Kind Regards, Bill

Thanks, thanks, and more thanks Funny thing about that last one. I was just trying to use up what little wire I had left. I was just going to end the bail wires on the back and have nothing on the front. When I was wrapping it I was distracted ( watching TV ) and kind of rushing. After I made the bail I looked at the front and noticed that I bent the wires holding the top of the stone in at different lengths and the two binds near the bail were completely uneven. I tried to fix it, but just ended up mangling the wire. So, I needed to hide the mangled wire and draw attention away from the uneven binds. Luckily I still had a couple of inches of wire after the bail. So I twisted one, and brought them around to the front. I hid the screwed up wire with the bind on the left side of the front. Then I made the little swirlys to draw your eye more to the middle of the stone. Did it work? Did you notice how uneven the binds to the left and right of the bail are? I'm really glad I messed it up though, I think it really came out way better than I had planned Hi Chris, Those are fantastic. I really admire your talent! Questions - Your wire looks extra bright. I'm wonder if you polish it somehow? And if so, do you polish before or after your wrap? Kind Regards, Bill Yes Bill, I polish the wire before and after I work with it. I just use Connoisseurs Jewelry Wipes. Just little disposable cloths impregnated with something ( jewler's rouge? ). Works great, and they take tarnish off great too ( but nothing's easier than baking soda and aluminum foil, does any body remeber Mr. Wizard? I loved that show ). You can get them at Wal Mart ( Target, Meijer, etc...) on the jewelry counter.

Thanks Chris!
Yes... I do remember Mr. Wizard. The show was an inspiration to me as a small kid (I love the sciences).
