little aussie made it back from arizona....cool deep green eyes...and these dogs are super smart...taught it to come with only 15 minutes of work....i have never owned an aussie before....didnt know they actually showed a herding instinct at such a young age(7 weeks)...its funny as heck...it was actually laying down and springing back up trying to herd the neighbors kids in the yard....gonna start getting it used to the jet ski motors shortly....hopefully it will like to ride ;D....yes it will have a life vest...kev.

What a pretty Aussie! Yep, Kevin, they are extremely "quick" learners, and they are also extremely "quick" on their feet! It's good that you've started on the "come" command already - you'd never be able to outrun it!
One small word of advice (like you need more advice, right? ;D) - Aussies do have a very strong herding instinct, but also, they get bored easily. They need a job. Without a job, they can even get psychotic. If you can let it herd some goats or sheep fairly frequently, or alternatively, do some intensive obedience training with it, plus get tons of exercise in between, it should become a very nice, loyal, family dog.
Best of luck with your new puppy!
Tom

What a cutie!!! Yup, those are smart dogs. I used to own a dog grooming shop. I never had trouble with an Aussie. Always well behaved. Get it lots of toys, tennis balls and frisbees. And spend lots of time with it. A dog like that needs to be a family member.
Teach it now what you will want it to do later. Like, if you don't want it on the couch later, don't let it up there now. Smart dogs not only learn quickly, they learn how to manipulate you quickly too. They learn to use those puppy dog eyes.

ROTFL Kev. Well, he's cute as a button and his name is perfect. You can wave goodbye to those doctors now because he's gonna be the best medicine for that heart of yours!
A job... hmmm, you could teach him to pick up rocks and put them in a bucket...

That's a good looking pup you've got there. Show us pics of Picasso's progress from time to time to see how he's growing up

Teach him to sniff out agate and bring it back to the car. LOL Maybe get a bunch of stuffed toys and throw them all around the yard and let him heard them into a circle. Or maybe get a cheap remote control car and make it fuzzy and let him heard that. That would be fun to watch. even better get several of them and several of your friends to control them. I would like to watch that.
