My daughter saw a piece of pet wood I had and she liked it and wanted it for a pendent. ( its hugh,-- what she wanted ). so I wrapped it in 16ga ss. First piece of jewelry ever made. 16ga is not easy to work. Had to anneal it twice.

That is very cool Gary, I can see why she picked it. Nice work!

Gary, she will be thrilled wearing that pendant. You did a great job on it and after all it was made by her Dad and selected by her. That is wonderful.

Great job Gary! It looks like you've got a lot of silver in this creative piece. I'll bet you'll be doing more silverwork now that you've got your feet wet. Garry

Garry, as silver is a little pricey-- do you think it would be a good idea to take a class silverworking. I would have to travel some because I live in a rural area gary

Well Gary, I know just a little about silversmithing. I've got all the equipment and silver to do silver soldering, but I haven't done that much. I had a friend in the Seattle area (Howard House - great guy) who loved to teach and gave me a couple of private soldering lessons, but you just have to do more of it to get better. Although a class would be good, maybe you could find somebody close to you who could teach you 1 on 1. I think that is usually best. There is a lot of literature out there on silversmithing that you might want to take a look at. In addition, there are some real experts on this forum who could probably answer any specific questions you might have. Garry

Hi Gary, I was sent this Will Smith tutorial which I tell all my students to down load and read by Tom (Conrock) See Photoes 6 to 9 for the course He is a brilliant teacher and coveres everything and gives a few simple projects to do imageevent.com/jemcraft/silversmithing?p=0&n=1&m=16&c=3&w=4&b=0&s=0&z=2&l=5The section on colour changes is excelent and paramount in silversmithing There is a few things we have made hope you have a go at some of them , ( Made of wire 1.5mm ) they are cheaper to make than a full backed plated cab Like anything else it is practice, practice, practise, ! Wishing you all the best Jack Yorkshire UK Ps Watch some Silversmithing Vidios on Utube they are also excelent and the old pros give some excelent tips jack
