Hi Condor, my 2 cents By the time it has turned out one batch you would NOT be able to see anything the grit would have roughned the surface of the plastic inside, Id like to see a bit more tec info, also a photo of the motor and its fixing I think one thing that would put me off is the chinese writing on the bottom of the unit ! It all goes back to the saying "You get what you pay for" By one from The Rockshed or whoever localy and you can get help if a fault develops and the machine goes wrong Start right finish right, The Evolution of a Tumbling Barrel I started out with paint tins, they got holes in them , so lined them with rubber , end then went lined it with a plastic lid , top leaked sooo fitited wood top insert, Pin holes and further leaking where the lid fitted to the tin !!!!!!!! Sooooooooooo I Bought a Lortone 6 1/2 lb barrel NEVER had a barrel problem in 5 years Jack Yorkshire uk

I saw that when I was looking at tumblers. It's one of those ideas that seems really neat on paper.

I use Acrylic (plexi-glass) to repair my thumlers lids (especially the AR12 as course grit chews thru the stock white lid in a couple months) So the plexi holds up very well. As for the chinese writing- well I think it says "haha american sucker- bought cheap tumbler. We no makie replacie parts"

It would probably work fine dry tumbling jewelry. The slurry would make it opaque in a hurry if tumbling rocks.

In my opinion, a Thumbler or Lortone are the only rotary tumblers worth bidding on at ebay. I followed eBay closely and was able to ambush a lightly used Lortone 33-B with 3 - 1.5 lbs and 3 - 3 lb barrels, a small back of quartz and some abrasive for only about $20 dollars more than that, including shipping. Doesn't sound like that great a deal maybe, but the extra barrels are not cheap. Wait 'til you see 2 or 3 offered, and ending within a day or two of each other. Bid on the second or third one, and use sniping software. If the stars align and the bidding ends at 3 or 4 in the morning on a week day, you might get lucky. The software makes a last second bid while you're asleep.
It helps if it's a badly described item. You can ask the seller questions to see if it's what you really want to bid on, but go to their seller page and send them a note from there. That way the question and answer are private, and don't show up at the bottom of the listing where everyone else can see it. Sneaky? Yes. So what? Be patient and keep trying, it took a few tries over a couple month, but it worked for me.
