Nothing to write home about, but these are from the two creeks on my parents' and grandparents' land, so they have sentimental value for me. Clearly I need to practice, but I think these have some neat patterns. Any idea what the translucent ones are? They have a definite iridescence and layering. Hmm. Thanks for looking! Kate

Cool tumbles! There's nothing like finding the rocks, then polishing them up.

Look good. Were those found near Pensacola? Keep looking,no telling what you will find. Ought to be some arrowheads on high ground by those creeks. ;D.Ya'll are a nice looking family.

Kate, that is a lovely batch. You captured the shine and lovely shape in your stones. Welcome aboard the RTH. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. I learned more here by asking than I could have anywhere.

Kate, to give a guess as to your original question - I'm thinking the translucent stones in your 2nd picture look like an agate of some kind, with some neat little inclusions - probably hematite. That all have a really nice shape and shine to them - nice job!

Congratulations on your first tumble! I'm still working on my first tumble, and it will have sentimental value as well - rocks from my husband's childhood home. I really like the reddish stones in your first picture. They all look great.

Thanks everyone! I agree, the sentimental value can't be beat.
The land is in Randolph County, (East Central) Alabama. In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and at the bottom end of the Brevard Fault Zone.
And everyone is right, this is SOOOO addicting... I ordered a big box of rainbow jasper off of ebay - it should be here the end of this month, I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Nice looking batch! If this was your first run then you done REAL GOOD! It looks like you have a few mixed materials in that batch so getting an even shine on them is a challange! Keep up the good work!

That is a great first batch! Looks like some quartzite that will always have that crackled look to it and maybe a clear agate with mica in between the layers. That would give you a rainbow effect. It could also be a clear quartz that has mica in it. Just hard to say for sure but collecting it yourself and seeing it turn out so well is a bonus! Looking forward to the next! Fran

Very nice on your first run. Your right on being addicting. I started with one tumbler last Summer had a double barrel tumbler by the end of the year and planning on getting a vibe this year.
