They look sweet as candy. Great looking jelly beans in the 2nd and 3rd pictures. My pictures come out like that when I take my camera from the air conditioned house to the warm outdoors.

Well that camera does capture the shine! It does look like the lens is dirty or nfogged up. Might want to check it out. Also are you using the macro setting? I'm not familiar with the coolpix so maybe I don't have the right setting term

Thanks Carlos, Paul and Stefan. Stefan I just looked and it does look like a film on the lens. It's a fairly new camera and I never thought to check that. I also had it set at 3 megapixels and it goes to 12. Perhaps I'll try it at 12 next time. I really want to learn to use it the best way for the stones but I'm too up on these things. Thanks for the suggestion, I am going to find a nice soft cloth and try cleaning the lens.

Beautiful. Did you create your own mix or did you buy them already mixed. If you did buy a mix, where did you get it?

Thank you Mike, I live in Ohio so none of these came from there. I have received some beautiful stones from members of the RTH, Beefjello, Spokantim, Kasag4, Stonesthatrock, Naturenut to name a few. Anyway, I really like getting pieces of slabs to tumble but then you also need the filler. I have received plenty of that as well including some pea size Lakers. I pick out from my supply what I want and add my small filler pieces. I just love watching the transformations.

Yes Aimee, I agree but my son Chris Perez took all my Dendrites. Hopefully he will wrap some with one of his creative wraps. They aren't any very large but they are beautiful. Looks like something living in the rock. Tanya

Hi tanya, Yes a very nice batch and such a variety photo is good
A few things to watch is background try a blue or black or any darker background
Also try standing between the Sun and the rocks,
Digital cameras work different from film cameras and are slower allowing Glare to come back off a white or shiney background affecting the photo quality
You can see this most on your last picture down the LH side
Thanks again for showing your results

Thanks Fran and Jack. Jack I am always open to suggestions on how to improve. I have had a hard time getting used to the little Coolpix. I was much better on the Kodak Digital but I intend to learn this one. I love your suggestions and I will try them in a couple of weeks when the next batch is done.

Yep, I got the little dendrites and those golden montanas on the right side of the 3rd pic. The dendrites are really small, so I'm gonna group them together kind of the the B.O. pendant, but not . These sure are some pretty stones! Good work mom ! We just need to get that camera working right, I keep forgetting to play around with it. Maybe next time I'm over... Chris

Actually, here's some pics of what I took ( Sorry mom, I just couldn't help myself ).... Dendrites and montanas... Each of the dendrites are smaller than a dime... Boulder Opal... from Pporky... four have already been used . That biger one in the middle is amazing. I need to try puting that one in water to try to catch the fire... Here a rough and tumbled piece of some sort of petrified wood ( I guess? ). I'm thinking a his and her pendant set for these... Some really neat citrine pieces... And some aquamarine...
