Here are a few pictures from my first few batches. Overall I am pretty happy with how they turned out, but I have learned a lot reading the posts on here, and think there is a lot of room for improvement. First batch (no before photos): Petrified wood before: Petrified wood after: Other stuff that I think is mostly jasper. I haven't really figured out all my rocks yet

All of these are rocks and wood I have found on the rivers by me in Oregon.

You have done a really good job on these. Keep the tumbler tumbling and remember we all know we can improve. You are off to a really good start.

Good Start. About the only suggestion I have is run them in course grit longer. Pet wood can sometimes be a real pain in the course stage- it just seems to not want to give up the pits, cracks, crannies. Most of my pet wood runs for at least 6 weeks in course- sometimes as long as 16 weeks! Your shine is first rate!

When you leave the petrified wood in for 6 weeks, how much size do you lose? I have only been leaving my stuff in just over a week, but it seems like they lost a substantial amount of their size in that short period. Do they continue to shrink at the same rate?

Anyone step in if they know better, but i think you lose about 1/3 of the size. If you look at it as losing the part of the rock thats rigid or pitted tho, its a plus.
