Hey All thought I would put up some photos of our gravel in this area, all this was picked up on the gravel road and my driveway,some of the better ones I couldn't get pics of for some reason but these will give you an idea. feel free to ID any for me if you can,lol. I will have to get better at the photo taking... #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #10 #11 #12 These are a small sample, so many different kinds, and it is hard to find enough of the same for a full batch, so they end up mixed together and some come out better than others,lol. hard to show the shine in pics. Feel free to comment or/and id these rocks. Help and tumbling hints are welcome if you see anything I could do better, but I should have given them more first stage time, I know,lol.

By the way I rushed these kinda, bad I know, they kept chipping and cracking and I just said the heck with it and finished them out, alot of the chipped ones are one my children demanded go into the tumbler, hard to say no...

pretty fancy road you live on. #'s 3, 5, 6,10 I like. #'s 8 & 11 look like pet wd. looks like a real good shine on em

Dang nice gravel there. #2 and 6 are nice agates (#2 could used a few more weeks in rough- but still came out pretty nice). #8 is a real nice pet wood. Oh #10 looks like a nice agate too!

I live in south central nebraska. In an area we all refer to as the wetlands basin, it encompasses several counties, all our road gravel is from local gravel pits. had some glacial movement in the long distant past that left huge gravel deposits around here, also find tons of petrified bone shards and things like that, once things warm up this summer I intend to go hit the river, and get some buckets of stones where they wash up on gravel/sand bars and are easy pickings, except for the carrying to the truck part.

Nice road gravel indeed! Definitely wood and agate in there. One piece actually looks almost like palm. Very cool batch.....Mel

That's pretty nice for driveway gravel. I wish mine was 1/10 as nice. Amazing how the lowly gravel cleans up.

Somtimes you find the most interesting rock literally at your front door... #1 is banded flint #4 appears to be citrine quartz #6 is moss agate #8 is silicifed wood #10 is a dendritic agate...if I didn't know better I'd swear it was a sweetwater agate from Wyoming... #11 appears to be a chert of some variety pray tell, where was that gravel quarried from that has such a variety?

Check the cobbles they use for underlayment when they're building up low spots in the road. You can sometimes find nice stuff in large enough pieces to cut. I live on a gravel road in N.E. South Dakota, and find a lot of material like yours. Don

I like #10 and #2 #2 would saw up nice and make a very nice interesting pendant ?

You kill me! I have to drive at least 2 hours to find anything that close to that. Your driveway gravel must have been sourced from an ancient streambed, or delta. Sweet!
