This is a Montana Agate lamp my wife and I made a couple of years ago. The base is sandstone and the riser is diamond willow. We just completed a smaller lamp will post a pic later, Jim

Beautiful lamp. Very inspired choice, the Montana agate. I bet it's so cool to admire all those slabets in backlight.
Is that lead, in between the stones?

It's lovely, Jim. My buddy wants one. Is there a tutorial or instructions somewhere? Doesn't have to be on the internet, although it would be nice. Could be a book, anything. Or maybe you already had experience with stained glass -- unfortunately, I do not. I mean, of course, I know the basics of how to make and wire a lamp. I don't know how to make the stained Agate part -- the lampshade. If it is not a trade secret, I'd love to know. Thanks so much.

Hi all and thanx for the wonderful comments. I had no stain glass experience , my wife had very little [ She did most of the soldering ]. We got pointers from a friend and the local stain glass shop. We bought a fiberglass lamp mold, cut, polished and foiled the slabs, arranged them on the mold with sticky wax and then soldered with 60/40 solder. Hope this helps. Thanx again ..... Jim

Thanks. It does help, Jim. Since my buddy also collects stained glass window panes, I might start with a "flat" window first. But I've bookmarked your thread for future reference. I'm thinking of making smaller slabettes that I can polish in the vibratory tumbler.

If memory is correct there was an agate lamp posted quite awhile back, wasn't this one. I didnt know how to post pics till the other night, always thought it sounded to complicated. My wife read Marks tutorial and walked me thru it, wasn't that bad afterall. Thanx to all for the comments.......Jim
