What a great site with a ton of good information on all things rock.
I finally decided to join and introduce myself after continually coming back to this site for research and sometimes just to look at all the great mamber pics too.
I am a prospector from western Canada who spends most of the summer in the bush panning for gold and of course picking up all the neat rocks i find. I got into rock tumbling about three years ago and have also recently started carving my own creatins from the rocks i find.
I just wanted to say thanks for all the great information that has helped me learn along the way.

Heya, Marinedad, yea i love the shiny yellow rocks more than any other. I have been prospecting for just over 7 years now and this year will be running a fairly large mechanical testing program in the Cariboo region of B.C. I spend so much time with my head down staring in the gold pan that i tend to miss some of the other beautiful rocks i stumble over but i have vowed to change that this year. Good thing too for on the first new claim i staked this year i am finding a fairly large amount of jade boulders as well as some nice agates too.

When you are panning out your concentrates don't for get to stop when the pan is about 1/2 ful and do a quick scan for gemstones....most gem crystalls are far heavier then most of what get stuck in your sluice or pan.Garnets in particular.A good clear well colored garnet find mifght be worth more then a barely producing gold find.

Welcome (be-lated) to the forum. I've been watching your posts and admiring your pictures. Your an accomplished photographer and I've ended up bookmarking one of your threads that had all the tips and tricks on taking macro photos. Thanks for the help.
