I wrapped two of the cabs I cut yesterday today to give the girls for Easter. First I have the pyrite cab wrapped in gold colored copper. This is round wire, so I filed down the pieces I used for the bindings so it would be almost half round. I lost some of the color in that process. I forgot how easily the color comes off this stuff. I think it turned out OK in the end though. Next is the peridot and magnetite cab wrapped in copper. This went much smoother, obviously with no coating to scratch off lol. The cobwebs shook off pretty quick today, I got this one done in less than 20 minutes! I like doing a beveled girdle on the cabs, so I don't need to have any wires up front holding the cabin the wrap. It makes it have a very clean look. A little more work on my curlies, and I'll be knocking these out with little effort... Maybe I think the girls will like them. Thanks for looking! Nate

Thanks Frankie! I'm gonna wrap the blue one for my wife later. She's seen the cab so it won't be a surprise though.

Those are neat! Enameled copper I'm thinking?

Your daughters are going to love these. You put a great shine on the cabs and I love how there is just a little bit of wire curved in the front. It gives the wraps an elegant look but also made me think of Peek-a-boo at the same time.

Those look great I really like the way you worked the round wire on the first one, very cool. (it's hard to make round wire look good)

The whole bevel thing is cool. I like the clean look also. Good job.

Colt, it could be enameled copper. I got it at Hobby Lobby, and the brand is Beadalon.
Thanks everyone! ;D

Nice looking as usual, Nate, both the cabs & the wraps. Your girls will be proud wearers, I'm sure!

What do you mean by beveled cab? can you show me a side view of one? Very nice wraps. I like both of them.

Thank you Amy. The girdle is not square with the back of the cab. It angles up toward the top. I'll try to get a pic of one. Might be hard to see with wire on it though. Nate Ok, here's the pic. You can see by the blue line I added that the girdle gets narrower toward the front of the cab. This way the wires on the back of the cab hold it from falling out of the wrap in back, and the angled girdle keeps it from popping out the front.

Bet your girls will love them. I didn't even notice the edge was beveled, very neat idea to show off more of the stone.

The girls loved the pendants. They wore them all day, and showed them off to Grandma when we went over for supper.
Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter! Nate

That had to be a great Easter for the girls. It's a beautiful gift but made even better by Dad creating them.
