I purchased a Raytech TV5 last December (6 months). Besides having the motor replaced already, now the main bowl has become VERY translucent, and in need of replacement. This is not a serious tumbler, IMHO. I made the purchase before I found you folks here, my bad! LOL! Anyway, does anyone have comparative experience with the TV5, The LotOTumbler and the Diamond Pacific Microsonic. Which is the quietest? I've been buying off my neighbors with jewelry I've made, sorta as nuisance compensation, but this little TV5 is annoying, even to me. (especially to me!) I really prefer to stick with the 4lb capacity. Also, any thoughts on most bang for the buck. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm an old Raytech TV5 owner.... Geesh, the Raytech was like a pressure washer running 24/7!!! Mine broke down in less than a year. Did a horrid job too! I was actually happy not to hear the noise anymore... I REALLY REALLY like the Lot-O!!! It's as quiet as 3 lb Lortone rotaries, maybe even more so. It's 4.5 capacity which you are looking for as well. My ~Krystee

I have a Thumler's UV-18, which when loaded properly isn't too bad, but probably louder than you would like.
I've seen others (including Mel) complain that the mini-sonics start life relatively quiet, but end up sounding like Hueys, if I recall correctly.
I've heard many comments from Lot-O owners that they are quiet.

i won't part with my lot-o. it works wonders with my rocks and it is fast and quiet. the only way i know it is running in the garage is when the lid pops off and it is more noisy then. i have had it about a year now and it runs 24/7. charlie

I'm now running a UV-10 and it's pretty noisy even on my bench top which has a rubber pad on the top. Had a mini-sonic as my previous vibe and it was fairly quiet at first but in later years very very noisy. I've heard goo things about the sound level for the Lot-0, especially when glued to a heavy base. I'd go that route if I wanted a smaller unit.....Mel

Never had a Lot-O but do have a small Mini. Not quiet but it is one tumbler you can run in a box as there is no motor. I ran it at a show in a box with an old towel folded under the tumbler and whisper quiet. Mine needed a repair and when DP rebuilt it (no charge) it came back much quieter than originally too.

Lot-O was the quietiest tumbler I've had. But my MiniSonic 4-lb is almost as quiet, and I like the variable speed. It also works well at lower speed for tumbel cleaning silver work in microbright ceramic balls.
I also have the industrial VT-base for the bigger VibraSonic and that is a much noisier machine. I just got a used MiniSonic with a 10lb hopper and it seems to run quiet - but I have not loaded it full of rough.

I have a minisonic and love it. It's nice and quiet in my opinion. It's louder than a lortone tumbler but not by much. It does quick work and easy to use. I love that is has no moving parts which means it does not run hot (no motor to turn). The best thing is that it has an adjuster knob. You can turn it down during times when you are around then turn it up when you leave. Putting it on a rubber pad also significantly quiets it down.
I got the minisonic used so I don't know how old it is. I do not find that it is getting any louder as time goes on. I have been using it for about a year now. Steve
