Haven't posted any of my wraps in a long time, still doing them intermittently though! I just enjoy logging on and seeing the MASTER wrappers stuff, mine are all simple quickies. That being said, I've been doing a bunch of simple wraps this weekend for someone else and decided to take a quick break and do one for myself. This is a cab I posted awhile back and drilled it large enough for a 3 wire Sterling simple wrap. I love this cab (even though I got loosey on the top of the bail)! [a href=" "] [/a] Really like doing wraps but the cost has gotten out of control. Drilling them and just working the top is working great for me! Thanks for spending your time to look at mine!!! ~Krystee

So what's wrong with simple ? Simple allows the beauty of the cab to show. A beautiful stone like that one, shouldn't be hidden behind a bunch of swirly wires and fancy dodads. Don

That is very pretty Krystee. Glad you posted it. I agree about the costs being out of control, I don't know what I'll do when I run out of wire. That might be why I haven't done a lot of wrapping lately.

Beautiful, but I don't get how is the stone secured. Is it a groove wrap?

Adrian,
No groove, I drilled it and ran the wires through the hole, bent up flush upright on both sides and then did the bail and design work. Very simple once you get it drilled.

now wait a minute ~Krystee you drilled a hole in that cab and the wires for the bale are inserted in it ? hhmmm... so something similar could be done with a rock'n heart ?
I mean,,, I already have the pre-drilled hole this is interesting stuff!
how large is this hole your drilling? thanks Ed
o and that very pretty rock and wire

Ed,
Don't use my method for your ROCKIN HEARTS, they are PERFECT already!!!!!!
As far as my cabs, the holes are drilled on the side, near the top where I want the bail to be. I"m funny in that I do not use drill bits, I use carving burs that are cone shaped. Took the advice from a jade carver and have never cracked a stone. Might take longer but I drill till it breakes through and then I turn it over and even it out with the other side.

Welll I’m not sure ~Krystee some hearts I think would look good with a wire bale I never really saw how a wire wrap around a heart profile worked they all looked difficult
but your method is realllly cool and as potential it may not be practical with the heart but your idea is marvelous
so that hole is drilled straight through the stone? the wire goes all the way through?
anyway no need to answer just wondering like creative simple ideas and yours rates!

Ed, yes all the way through...
Don, thanks, love the simples, mostly because that is what I can do, but also respect the ones that have the artistic ability to do so much more.
Diane, Ugh.... ran out of wire to do the wraps for the person I'm doing them for.... didn't have time to order from Rio Grande so I went to the local bead store. WHOA!!! They charged me $34.95 for a .5 troy (sp?) oz of 22g dead soft sterling! Almost did a flip backwards..... dang!

When you have a chance, would you please post a pic of one of your drilled cabs before you wire it? Thanks!

Krystee, I love the design on your cab. Sets the stone off and the star of the show.

Don't fret about being simple. Your simple is beautiful. To me it's a gorgeous stone and you've enhanced it!

Krystee, a better word to describe your simple bail design would be elegant.

That is a very nice wrap Krystee. I agree with Lee, there's nothing simple about it - it's very elegant.

I agree as well. That piece really looks nice, and it uses less wire to boot! You have inspired me to try one myself (now shopping for a drill bit).

I like how you are doing those very much! I may have to give that a try also, especially due to the cost of silver now. And, your idea shows a lot of creativity and ingenuity!
