Unclestu said rockhounds who use flat laps are lapdogs. I got down to three rocks on the lap this A.M. and they all wanted to bunch up and just sit in the table center. Hacked up this gadget out of the scrap box, and it works great. The rocks lap the table at a minute per lap, saves the center, and they are grinding nicely. The question is: am I lapping lapping, or should I bark twice. Attachments:

I have had to do something similar for my vibrolap 27". I was talking to the folks at Diamond Pacific, and they said that the dishing in the middle of the plate is normal, and eventually, you have to take change out the polish pad side, as the polishing pad's metal circle is concealing another grooved grinding plate beneath it. When both sides are worn out, time to buy a new lap plate--about 800 bucks.
