it was standard size plexiglas. i am going to try to get a thicker piece before i make a new one. put on the old one that i fixed when it broke. but i run the tumbler doing mostly 50/90 grit so that probably wears out the hole in the center. i have been filling the tumbler 3/4 full with half full of water. maybe that is a problem. maybe if i have more water then a certain rock would not stay in the same place and rub the hole in the lid... charlie

The lids are the weak spot. Even their B model with metal drum with liner and 5 year warranty has no warranty on the rubber lid gasket. Since you use it only for one grit, how about gluing a rubber or neoprene disc on inside of lid? Or cutting a smaller plexi disc and gluing on inside?

I've read on the forum that people are "painting" the ends of their barrels with Plasti-cote, and report good abrasive resistance with it. Available at auto parts stores, usually used for dipping wrench handles to coat them.

Another line of sparays is also available that is used for undercoating cars in the salty north and used to be standard on all vehicles. Grainger offers 3 good ones but the plasti-coat at $5.50 a can is the most economical with the others going up to $20 a can. Home Depot carries the Plasti-Coat sprays as I checked all that out last week. You may also ask your plexiglass supplier about the Lexan bulletproof acrylic material. It cost more but might save you a trip in the future.

I've started using the plasti coat. so far so good. i do paint on 3 or 4 layers letting it dry between each layer. Been running 2 months so far with no determinable wear on the plasti dip.
