Shafts may be a little thin for that long but you can always add center bearings. I would buy braided or Tygon hose same inside diameter as OD of the shafts. Force over shafts for barrels to ride on. Buy extra as they will wear out. Looks good.

That's pretty slick. Maybe I missed it but what did you use for the caps on your PVC barrels?

What holds the lids on? I usually see PVC drums with a glue on cap on one side and screw on plug on other. Wood ends usually use allthread or long bolts to hold them on.

OK, I went back and enlarged the picture and saw the allthread through center.

Depends on how large the barrels are. Covingtons triple 12 lb. had to have center support added.

How does spray truckbed liner work on the inside of the barrels? Does it reduce the noise level? will it hold up? I think I will try some on my pvc barrels.

I'm guessing they will be one grit only but then again PVC may embed with grit as well.

I've never gone the full homemade route but it looks like you're well on your way. Keep up the posts and good luck.

Nice looking machine. Great idea with the barrels too! I've built a couple home made tumblers. Superstrut works great for the frame. You can bolt everything to it easily and bolt the whole assembly to a table. Steve

Update the 1725 rpm is still turning my barrels to fast about 64 rpms I have a 6" pully on 1 side and 1 3/4 inch on other so it seems I need a bigger barrel or a bigger pully !the barrels are of a new design because the the other wouldnt hold water lol 4 inch pvc cut at 8 inchs capped off at one end and has a sleave and a test plug in the other . truck bed liner didnt work out either , but I slipped on some clear hose on the cold rolled steel .rolls great !
