Hello,
I've had a few people ask me to explain how I do my simple drilled wraps. Instead of explaining it in pm's I decided to post step by step pictures here. I like doing these wraps because it uses very little wire and once the stone is drilled, this wrap only takes a few minutes to complete.
I will apologize first for subjecting you to my mutilated fingernails in each of the photos. I took these pictures after using my flat lap with no dop stick
The pictures aren't that great either, all taken with auto focus and flash under standard lighting.
Ok, I use two or three wires depending on the size hole that I've drilled. This one is a two hole. I use 22 gauge square dead soft for this step:
I thread it through the hole keeping it flat:
Bend up evenly on both sides:
Loop over the front side wires for top of bail:
Flip over to the back and tape the wires in place for later:
Now for the bail:
I slide it through the loop from the back side and use my thumb to hold the edge of it securely in place while I wrap it from the bottom up:
I then trim off the wires and use my tool to tuck the ends into the middle of the bail:
Then I bend my excess wires down to make a simple design on the front:
Now I remove the tape and do the back side:
I spread the loop apart slightly to hang on a chain well. And I'm done!:
