Just to quickly say hullo to everyone and introduce ourselves, my name is Pete and my lovely wife is Janet, along with numerous pets we live on 5 acres of forest close to the small outback town of Bindoon in Western Australia, we have been cutting and polishing rocks for several years and now have a large collection of tumbled stones and cabs.
We use mainly local stone which include .... Marra mamba, chrysoprase, peanut wood, mookaite and tiger iron plus a few other lesser known treasures - mainly jaspers.
Hopefully we can learn more about this fascinating hobby from you guys and in return divulge a little of what we have taught ourselves over the years.
Take care.

Nice piece. Are there any places that are open to collecting for chrysoprase, tiger iron or boulder opal?

Brent, Not certain about the boulder opal, but with a miners permit you should be able to pick up chrysoprase from the many deposits in the West Australian Gold fields region and possibly tiger iron or similar material from the BIF formations in the North of the state, although the two locations are thousands of KMs apart.
Take care.
