I have a problem with my new tumbler, the belt keeps slipping off and when I took the cover off I noticed that the two wheels where the belt goes are not aligned. I have temporarily fixed it by bringing the two plates together with grey tap. I am currently in the process of doing rough and can't stop. Should I return the tumbler or go with what I have? It is working well as we speak. Needless to say I didn't sleep much last night because I was worried about the tumbler stopping.

As Red Green would say, " duct tape, a handyman's best friend". Don't know what's causing the problem in yours, but none of my tumblers (by Lortone or Thumler's) lined up right as delivered. I had to do some tweaking on all of them. It shouldn't be so far off as to risk a belt jumping of though.

That makes me wonder if my belt isn't tight enough. Well right now it is still running fine with the duct tape in place.
I suppose when I go to Wichita the end of this month I can go to my rock shop and get another belt.

A misaligned belt will squeal miserably...
I used a ruler to line up the pulleys. Put the ruler edgewise on the side of the large pulley, and the small pulley should line up the same way, with no gaps, nor cause any gaps on the large one. Use very thin washers (stainless steel) on the motor to move the small pulley in or out to create the proper alignment.
I ran into a misalignment on a couple of my thumlers, and fixed the problem exactly as I described.
DO NOT overtighten the belt. No reason to. The Thumler silicone belts grab well, and should be pretty limp in the middle. The Lortone belt is much sturdier, but still should be fairly loose. I've yet to break a belt even after a year of continuous use...

You're absolutely right...
I was thinking the washers because I swapped a thumlers motor onto my lortone, and ran out of adjustment on the shaft.
