Fossils

Good Morning, I have been assigned to run our school library K-5 grade in Paradise Ca. I want to introduce our students to fossils, shells, and anything beach related. Don from Jacksrocks has generously donated some fossils to start my collection for the students. I was wondering if anyone had anything laying around that they might want to donate to our library for our students? I will definitely pay for shipping and handling. Paradise is a community of needy students and I think turning them on to fossils and the oceans gifts would be such a great experience for them.
Kind Regards,
Janet

I did think about that, I can only say I have worked for Paradise Unified School District for 37 years. I have never done this before and I guess I was a little frantic as I have just been assigned to this new position and my love is the ocean. I thought it would be great to share what I have with my students. I would feel the same way if someone new came along and asked for something. It really is okay. I thank you so much Don for believing in me and what I am trying to do for the students. Believe me, when my students see what you have sent they will be thrilled. Our school is around 65% low income and most have never been to the ocean or seen fossils. Thank you for sharing and please know, it wasn't to benefit myself but just to give my students something they may never experience or see. I apologize, and hope I have not offended anyone. Janet

Janet, we're always a bit suspicious of new folks. Give it a little time. And feel free to comment on any of the threads you find interesting. Trust me, you haven't offended anyone. We were all newbies on here at one time. Don

Thank you Don, but I wish I hadn't made that post! I know whatever I bring in to share with the students they will be so happy and with what you have sent and my finds along the way it will be great. I will talk to the students about you and will let you know how it goes. School starts next Monday but the library schedule will not start for around two weeks after. Janet

Janet, we like pictures on here. Be sure to post some pics of the little munchkins looking over the fossils and stuff. If I had known you were collecting sea shells, I would have sent a big abalone shell too. Don

I do hope some of the folks on here will respond to Janet's posts, and get to know her. Remember, we were all newbies on this site at one time. We all had to let the older members get to know and trust us.
