Cut a piece of pet wood I picked up last weekend, it's the center piece in this pic Here's what it looks like inside, any guesses where this might be from?

Very cool specimen! Frank Daniels, in his petrified wood book, says those spots are fossilized tree fungus pockets....Mel

Thanks Adrian! Cool Mel.. I hadn't considered fungus pockets, was thinking along the lines of roots running through the stump. Awesome!
