Hi all. I just got an email from Linna at Stoneage Industries telling me I was the winner of their July Shop Friends contest. I submitted the obsidian and yellow jasper knife I made a couple of months ago and it was chosen for July's winning entry. Now I have to choose what I want for my prize, $50 in merchandise from their web site. I encourage everyone to enter their contest cuz you never know. I didn't think I stood a chance against a beautiful obsidian sphere or John's rhodonite wrap or Tony's "cabzilla" or any of the other entries for that matter. If nothing else, check out their rough rock. I've bought from them a couple of times and they have quality rock for excellent prices. And they are great people to deal with. Here's a link to their site. stoneageindustries.com/index.html

Congrats Ed!! Well deserved win. That knife is very kewl! Checked out their website too. Very nice looking inventory and really decent prices on their rough. I'm eyeballing some of that fancy blood jasper but have to wait till I get back from the Nipomo Gem show Friday and see if I have any money left *L*....mel

very cool ed linna does have some real nice rock i was buyin rock off and on for awile there and was never disapointed with what she sent --opps one time and it wasent her fault i ordered some rhodanite with the webbing and got some from a dif location solid pink but you seen the stuff it all looks like a black rock till ya cut it but she sent me acouple slabs of the webbed to make up for the dif rock -- so all in all i have never been disapointed and like ya said a pleasure to deal with i can allmost see her smile in her emails hahaha

Congrats on the win! Well-deserved I say. One of those knives would also make a good submission for Rock and Gems "Craftsman of the Month" section. I forget what you win with that.

Thanks everyone. Hey Don, you may have a point there. I've seen some pretty hokey projects win their contest in recent months, just my opinion.
