I was home with a sick boy today and while he slept I was busy. This is a Buck 110 with Actinolite from Tandl (Ted). This is a metamorphic rock that is a bit soft, but without fractures and has a better shine than the pictures show. Not too bad for a first try. The only problem is the blade does not snap back as good as it should. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for looking! John

Fantastic, John. I new you could do it. Great fit. Check inside that the epoxy didn't get through the little holes. Have had that happen and it rubs it and won't close right. Also, have had new ones that didn't work right. Ken

Pretty good for a first one. I usually say practice makes perfect but in this case it looks like you nailed it on your first try.

Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments. I am anxious to make another one. I think the closing issue is because the spine of the knife, (where there are moving parts) was also polished and the edges are rubbing. It is getting better with use and should work out. Thanks again everyone!! John

If it is rubbing on the closing of the blade you may have some interference where the ricasso rubs against the liner. The ricasso is that part between the pivot pin and where the edge starts and is where the name of the maker is stamped. You can wrap a piece of 600 grit paper on a popsicle stick and take a little metal off the liner where the ricasso passes by the liner and see improvement. Check it often and don't take off so much that it becomes obvious or blend it in to the liner. You may just have rock dust on the moving parts. You can submerge the knife in soapy water and work it to see if it washes out.
