Sooo does anyone else own an Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner? I got one for Christmas and am worried, it says you can put glasses in it but don't know if it's completely safe for any type of cabochons. Anyone know? I'm going to google around but would love someone's advice if they have/had one. Thanks!

There are lots of Gemstones that you should NOT put into Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaners. Let's look at the list:
Opals Pearls Emeralds Tanzanites Tourmalines Peridot Malachite Agates Onyx Black or Dyed Pearls Chocolate Pearls Fracture Filled Diamonds Synthetic Stones Black Opals Mosaic Opals
Marcasite Turquoise Jade Amber Lapis Mother of Pearl Coral Colored Diamonds Malachite Fresh Water Pearls Costume Jewelry Diamonds with lots of Inclusions Copper Plated Jewelry Opal Doublets or Triplets Tungsten

I have never had a problem with ANY stone or jewelry I put in mine. Have put amber, opals, emeralds with biotite mica on them and it removes some of the mica, jade and lots of jaspers and agates. NEVER had any to have any adverse effects. Never have had any pearls to put in it. Ken

I have used it on many agates. it works great. i use it to remove any residual polish powder or dop wax. I usually have to run it several times, but the results are good. It gets the stuff out of any cracks or drusys. it also works great to clean gold and silver. I have put wrapped silver pieces in it and my wedding ring. I usually run it with a smidge of dish soap in the water.

Hey guys I have ruined good opal material before it was even cut by putting it in a ultrasonic cleaner. It got all cloudy and opaque I have also cracked quarts clusters apart, enhanced fractures in other quartz, and crazed an epidote crystal. But they work great for tougher more contiguous materials.
