Love the overall look of your design. Great statement. At first; seeing your title, I thought that could not work. But those colors work perfectly.

I really admire your design. The bale is most interesting to me. Would you please share how you created the bail??
I have not learned how to make tube settings yet. These are of interest to me.
I have accumulated tools to silversmith and learned basic techniques but I am hungry to learn how to tube set. Will you please share how to do this???

Really like the bale, it helps unify the whole concept.

The combination of colors, textures & patterns are awesome together. That is one piece I certainly wouldn't mind wearing around my neck!

Great looking piece.
You asked for criticisms and that just happens to be my specialty... Just wondering if orange garnets would have been better then rubies to bring out the orange flames even more.
Fantastic silverwork.

First of all I want to say that your work is beautiful and I would wear it outside my shirt in a heart beat. I am going to give my opinion (not criticism). I wish that more people on here would give an honest opinion when I post.
My first impression was a three eyed happy face with a flaming nose which I am sure was not your intention after a closer look. If the river had a less even meander, the outside rubies were set further down or two more rubies were added it would break up the look of a face. I am the last person that would be called a jewelry designer so my opinion is just that, an opinion. I worked with steel all my life so I can understand the amount of excellent work you put into this piece. There are a lot of people out there that do sloppy work and try to call it art. You are head and shoulders above that crowd. My hat is off to you. I do not have enough life left in me to reach your level so I am not even going to try, even though I would love to learn the craft. Montanans Rock......I grew up there. Jim

Okay, I did not see a face of any sort until Jim said something & it took me a while just looking at it to actually see it. My first initial impression when I look at it is this: Center stone, three tongues of flame & each one of those is reaching out to one of those rubies. That is what really caught my eye & still does, I love that about it.

Thanks everyone!! Christopher, tube settings are easy, thickwall tubing from Rio and setting burs. Inside diameter has to be smaller than the stone and outside larger, take same sized setting bur as the stone and drill down till the girdle sets lower than the top of the tube. I used a bezel pusher to set but am ordering stone stting cups from rio which will make it easier. The bail is just wires bent in a wave together soldered then hammered. The reason I used rubies is that I had purchased them years ago for a different project that never happened. That's also why a lot of my new designs are using sapphires, because I dug them w/my sons years ago so no $ outlay which today would be difficult.
