I had a real hard time polishing this piece but i finally got it good enough to share some pics. It still isn't perfect and has a couple orange peel spots but overall it shines pretty good. I also have not finished sharpening it since i didn't want to cut myself while polishing but once i am satisfied with the polish i am going to put a fine sharp edge on it. It has a round finger hole to help hold it and i sure wish i had a diamond hole saw to cut it instead of just using my dremel. It was prett tough to get it perfectly round but i think i got it pretty good. It also has a finger indent in front of the blade and a roughed up spot on top for a thumb grip. The blade is beveled from both sides and also has a beveled tip. Here are a couple backlit shots to show the grain in the jade. It should be pretty functional once i get it sharpened up and should be failry strong so i can actually use it. It has a pretty tight grain and was very solid when carving with no chippy areas so it should hold together well.

That is a beautiful piece! Wonderful detail work and I love the fact that it will be functional as well.

Amazing! What details, and what a nice green and what a translucency in that jade.

Great looking knife, Mike. Wonder what it would look like with black jade scales...
Not that it needs anything, just wondering.

Thanks everyone. This material is a joy to work with and i have really enjoyed making this piece. Thanks for the idea Todd, i think it would look great with black scales to help break up the lines and seperate the handle portion from the blade. I had thought of trying some juniper burl wood for scales but i wasn't sure the wood would work well with the jade and i think your suggestion of black jade to compliment the green would end up working better overall.
