Hi Guys, I just made a variable speed flat lap machine. Where do I get the discs and anything else I need to make this thing work? I know I need a diamond wheel, a leather buffer pad and diamond paste. Any tutorials on how to work a flat lap would be nice also. Up till now everything I did was free form or cutting stuff on my saw and grinder then tumbling. So all you folks with flat laps...HELP Please. thanks Steve

Steve, first of all, what size discs are you looking for, and what size of arbor hole ? If you have a Kingsley North catalog, pages 49 thru 55 have loads of discs and backing plates.
I hope you've set your machine up with 3 step pullies on the arbor and motor, so you can change speeds as needed. Don

rocklady1.com/Products.html <-- This is where I got my diamond disks from. They've served me well. As far as leather pads for diamond paste - I made my own. Good luck with the rest of the build. Post up some pix! ;D Nate

If the lap you're building takes 6" or 8" laps, Kingsley North's spring flyer came out today. They have diamond lap plates at a damned good price. 9 different grits from 60 to 3,000. 6" discs are $20.00 each, and 8" are $25.00 each.

Don, I just received my Kingsley North Sale catalog today also. Some super prices on their lap prices. I will be taking advantage of their prices. Bob

Beat ya to it Bob. I have the Inland 8" discs all the way up to 3,000 grit. With the backing plate, they'll fit right on the left end of my Genie. Don
