Hello: I live in Beautiful downtown Belleville Ill. My wife and I have been rockhounds for 35+ yr. She is busy teaching, I am retired and revisiting the lapidary end since the kids are gone. We have been squirrelling away a few tons of rough material for the retirement years. I am a recent (yesterday) refugee from the gemstone forum...so sad... I have skills as a cab cutter...maybe a stone butcher?... I am semi successfully growing Fischer Stone (a couple recently). I began wire wrapping classes and am doing a good job at that. next is additional work in wrapping and some silver smithing and eventually metal sculpture in jewelry. I have honest difficulty dealing with freeform stone design...I was trained to cut calibrated stone...old habits die hard. My favorite materials to work are: Fordite....botswana agate....plume agates....and Lakers..

Welcome to the forum. I believe I spent a few days in Belleville myself. Across the river from St Louis?

Nice to see you here. The refugee status is still to be determined, lets hope it works out fine in the end.
Greetings welcome from Hong Kong, Kurt
