Cool,looks like the baculite is in three pieces........You can glue them back together with a good glue and it will look like new............I like the small scaphites too.......

Ya I like them all too. the baculite has druzy on the end of the peices and the middle one has it on both ends I think this one would be cool cut in half. but I have a problem with cutting something that is so beautiful like it is. thanks for all the coments. and as far as what a death plate is Its fossils traped in rock but Im no expert. fossilman could answer that question better.

Death plate is generally used to describe a fairly flat rock with multiple fossils (layer of fossils from sea bottom generally). Lucky yours broke up. Really nice individual pieces. If you look at the plates in Tucson always check the back. You will very often find glue on back side.

I also have a few death plates,plus some that I made myself-usually with scaphites and shells...........Yes sir,got to watch what you buy,its easy to make anything into something....... "Rockingthenorth"after I get in my fossil hunts in Montana this summer,I'll send you some baculites that you should be able to cut.........
