Thanks Helen I just don't want to charge too much, especially since I'm just starting out. This is a welo opal wrapped in the same silver 24 ga round wire I've been using. I kind of threw this wrap together, so I think I'm going to redo it- it's sloppy. This is the basic design I want to use on it, though. Of course when I re-do it, the top wire holding it in will be even. What do y'all think? It kind of looks too bulky to me, but, then again, I kind of like it. Oh, and Happy Easter everyone!

Alisha, I think it looks very good, sort of cute and chubby. You really are improving in leaps and bounds--I hope you realize that!

The opal is really cute:)!! Just a heads up... try to make the tops more even, only because it will sit better on the chain you hang it from. Other than that, love how you did it!!

Thanks Susan and Helen The "tops" have been giving me a hard time. I just can't get them even. Someone already wants that one, but I think I'm going to keep it for myself and redo it. LOL

I redid the wrap on the welo cab. It still has some issues, but I think it's okay considering I'm still learning. I really need to get some half-round or square wire...

You need half-round "and" square wire. The half round is only for binding the main wires together. Good wire is dirt cheap until you move on to gold filled or sterling silver. You'll need 21 gauge half round, "half hard" and 22 gauge square dead soft. Here's where I get the wire for my classes.... www.brandywinejewelrysupply.com/categories/Wire/Copper-Wire/

Okay, got it. I'll bookmark that link for later use. (Lately, I've kind of overspent on this hobby, so it's time to slow down for a while) Thanks

A friend told me that in order to get good at this, "practice, practice, practice", you have to do three a day every day, so that's what I did. Actually, I did six a day for a week. That's when I saw my biggest improvement. Honestly, I make more money teaching this than I do selling them. Should also mention, when you get good enough to teach (and you will), that's when you'll have the most fun.

Okay, I finally got around to doing another wrap. Susand24224 was so nice as to send me some square and half round copper wire. Thanks Again This is a Juniper Ridge Fire Opal from John at Swordfish Mining I finally finished cabbing it, but the photos don't do it justice at all. It is a weird shape, but I love the color of it. It has some neat looking inclusions in it too. I'm probably going to redo the wrap. I didn't leave myself enough wire to do the top loops and it's fairly sloppy...

Went back to the silver colored full round wire. (That's what was requested) I've done 2 wraps this week, so far. One is turquoise: The other is amethyst (not the stuff from my ID thread, a different piece): There is a lot I could change on both of them, but, overall, I think they're alright considering my "skill" level. They both already have homes, too

Thanks Donnie and Todd! Out of curiosity, where do you all buy your wire? I'd like to get nickel or aluminum since silver is a bit pricy. Considering that I'm still learning, I don't really want to buy the "nice stuff" yet...

I used round wire on my first wrap also....until I learnt about the square stuff. My first one look similar to yours.

I see improvement in your work as you go. I must have cut the wire from my first wrap a half dozen times before I got it anywhere close to looking good. I don`t get much chance to work on mine so I have to do it after everyone else has gone to bed many times. I am impressed with what you did with the scrap copper wire! I may have to give that a try oneday. A mix of colors adds a nice touch to it. Keep up the good work.
