After finishing the garnets yesterday, I decided I deserved some "me" time. I sat down with my new wire and did this piece. It's one of the pieces I picked up a beach in NC and threw in on the first batch in the Lortone rotary for filler. It came out pretty well and is a large stone. 21 g stainless steel square and 21g half-round stainless for binding. While there are definite screw ups on this, the plus' outweigh the minus' I think. Out of the ones I've done thus far, I like this the best. Lessons...Randy told me to use half-round on the bindings...SO worth it!!! I could not believe the difference! Big is easier for me to work with at this point....so I'm going to try to get some larger stuff done up so I can play and get wrapping! Cathy

That looks great!! Your bindings are tight and I don't see any tool marks, very clean work. Awesome job!!

Cathy:
That is a great wrap! I really like the stainless steel too...where did you find it? I used the copper from Brandywine on my first wraps.

Thanks all!
Sue, I get it at riogrand.com Prices are good and shipping is great with them.
Rockitman, Actually, I really like working in the steel and have found copper to be a much more difficult metal to work. For me, it's just too soft! Overall, I've got nothing but good stuff to say about working in steel, plus it's a very low maintanence metal! I know the way that I am with jewelry and work. Last thing on the face of the planet I want to do is pull something out of the box that I really want to wear and have to spend 15 minutes cleaning it and then cleaning up on my way out the door in the morning. The steel looks good, wears well and you don't have to mess with it. I can't argue with that.

Wow! Look at you! Stainless is pretty hard to work with. It kills my old hands. I do love the look, though and the fact that there is little maintenance.
