Following a request on Facebook for a new album and some open questioning about willingness combining cabs with other stones in another thread I would like to show you why my family keeps the good stuff as far as possible from my reach. LOL
I love designing and mixing things, but Intarsia is still out of reach as my work is not yet precise enough. Its one thing to do freeform, but a very different one when you need to be accurate to the fraction of a millimeter.
And designing and mixing is usually very expensive for me, as my taste is far beyond the every-day use objects.
Sometimes it takes me years to buy all the individual stones to come up just with one piece and often I get a lot more stones than what I can actually use. But when things work out then things get massive.
My first try to actually design something and have it made. Fire Agate center is the only thing besides the design that I did myself. Made the Jeweler crazy as he saw that he had to set, Tanzanite, Sapphires, Ruby, Black and Champagne Diamonds of various seizes, plus 3 rough diamonds and the Fire Agate (78 stones all together).
All of them bought individually and then given to the Jeweler.
So, Hellen, is that what you had on mind with mix and match?
And my second try on designing. Again FA and design done by me, with champagne, white and yellow Diamonds.
I usually can not find designs that I like to wear myself. I literally looked for a cross all my life and only found some either not my taste or way to expensive for me. So I set out to assemble my own. Took me nearly 3 years to get all the stones and had it made to my specs.
While trying to get the right stones for the cross, I got quite a few additional stones, so I had the following two rings made.
Mind you its not always diamonds, but I do like to include them
Here with the first stone I ever cut (was literally my first stone even though it took years to be happy enough with it to have it set)
And
Or with Pietersite (another of my favorites)
So I better stop here. As said, I went into carving simply to get away from all that expensive stuff and still achieve the wow-factor.
Hope that answers some questions, best regards, Kurt
