How do you keep kinks out of worked wire? Does it just come with practice or is there a trick to it?

Sharp bends kink the wire. there is no going back after making such a bend. keep the wires bundled together as well. dead soft wire is more forgiving but only to a point. if you bend a wire, make sure you mean it.

Yep. Once wire is worked there's no turning back. I think about every bend for a minute or two before I actually do it.

If you mean that your wire kinks when removing it from the roll, it is all in the way you un-wind it. You need to make sure that you go through the motions of UNWINDING it from the coil it is in. Don't try to pull the wire from its coil.

I pull the wire thru a jewelry cloth to get the kinks out.

I do the same thing as Roger except that I just use a towel. I grab the end of the wire with pliers then pull it through the towel while pinching hard and causing a pretty big bend to the wire. Keep doing this but turn the hand with the pliers each time so you are bending the wire in the opposite direction. It will take out some pretty bad kinks but be careful because if you do it real fast a lot of heat builds up and will burn your fingers even with a heavy towel. Jim

Kinks are really hard if not impossible to get out. I have used jewelry cleaning cloths like Roger but also have a pair of nylon jaw pliers that work well for the craft type wire but haven't tried them on sterling or gold filled. The trick is definitely to be gentle with the wire when uncoiling it and when working with it. There is a bending point in all wire and once you get to know where that is with that particular wire you will be less inclined to kink it.

Or you could twist it. Goodbye kinks. Jo

That does make the kinks go away.
