A few weeks ago, I sent Jim one of the rocks I bought at the estate sale, and he cut it... and whoa... he says he's never seen anything like it, and neither had I. I thought it was a coprolite... but it's not, it's a geode.
But not a normal geode. It was loaded with teeny little cab sized druzy eyes, bordered in this bizarre lavender blue, with some pink agate (uh.. my FAVORITE color combo).
While I haven't seen all that many agates, I know I've never seen anything quite like this, even in photos (not agate, but the little pink bubbles around the druzy, not lines. He says he's never seen it before either.
What's more interesting, today, I went to the rock club, and a woman who had bought up the rest of them (she got there before I did, so she had 4, and all I got was 1 because it was the only one left) was there cutting them in half... and none of hers even looked like mine inside, they were just geodes with no pink or blue, but a full cavity of clear crystals. Mine was the only one like this, but from the outside was identical to hers.
Jim made me the coolest pendant with one of the druzy segments. The reason it's in this section is because of his novel way of doing it. 1. he backed it with a mirror. 2. he groove cut the stone. Isn't it AWSOME?
Closeup of the cab:
- is that odd looking, or have we just not seen enough agates?
Here is the original rock:
Here are my slices, minus 1, (Jim got the rest, but I think he can do more with them than I can) - the rock itself is not that amazing, but the little perfectly sized druzy eyes are incredible!:
The little eyes are ALL exactly the size of a cab!!
I mostly was posting the gorgeous awsome pendant, but while I'm at it,
he sent awsome rocks from Wyoming, and Jim made me ring forms to carve too!!!
Plus, I got a statue sized hunk of his rasberry alabaster too:). (think he's trying to tell me to carve my own instead of drooling all over his sculpture:P. LOL!)
Thanks so much Jim!!
