Don't know if this is the right place for this or not...but it is a creation and it does use rocks... so here it is... Okay, most of you know that I have a real thing about my work space... and that it's usually oblitterated, especially if I am working on anything. Today, because I am actually off from work, my husband Tom and I began to address the situation. Here's where we were at noon... The problem... equipment arriving and all of the electric is on one wall... there is no viable storage area for anything... Solution....unfinished prefab counters from Home Depot! Not quite there yet, but I am hoping to be able to start filling the cabinets and drawers by tomorrow evening! 14 linear feet of work space is going to make life a whole lot easier up there and the cabinets and drawers should provide ample room for tools and rocks! Best of all, Tom gets his clock table back! I think it's going to work! Cathy

That's an awesome solution and a good looking one as well - you're not going to know what to do with yourself and all that space now!

Nice! Hope you didn't trash the cool yellow 50's table though.

That's kind of what I did with my garage, but instead of the prefab cabinets, the Home Depot here had prefab benchtops with a single shelf beneath, for like $80 each. I bought 2 and made a major improvement in the work area, still not quite done/happy with it yet.
Your counter/cupboards look great though!

That looks like it'll lend a lot of organization and much needed counter top space! Great solution. My garage could definitely use some help like that. Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks! I'm really psyched about it!
Nancie, no worries on the table. Family heirloom so it's up in the attic over the kitchen for now. We've had that thing for years and it isn't going anywhere soon.
Randy, I do everything but the Lot-O up there. That we keep in the basement.
Today I think we are going to do the finishing work and put stuff where it's going to go. I'm hoping to be functional by tomorrow. Cost on all of this wasn't bad. The cabinets were the most and they ran a little over 100 each. For the counter tops the 8' was $87 and the 6' was like $66. I wanted the cabinets because tools, supplies and equipment can be out of the way and reach of the grandkids and it looks better. I also like that the counter tops are waterproof and have easy cleanup. Been thinking about all of this for a while and I'm really pleased at how it's comming together!
The hardest thing about doing this was getting the stuff that was up there out and cabinets upstairs. They weren't really heavy, just awkward getting up the stairs and it was really humid and hot yesterday. Anyway, there was no trimming on the cabinets or countertops at all, just four screws in each of the cabinet units (a total of 16) and we were done. The leveling was more difficult than that. (Old farmhouse that nothing is straight in.) Will post more photos as it comes together!

Cathy, I am so jealous of your workspace. How nice it must be to start something and be able to walk away and come back to it any time, LOL. That is a real nice space. Can't wait to see what you do today. Jo

Oh, I know you are one happy, excited camper!!!! I was jealous before and now I am positively green. You're gonna be in heaven with all that space and organization. One day, I'll post of picture of mine and DH's space.... our kitchen table... in the dining room, no less. LOL!!!! But, I do have 2 6 foot crammed full bookcases behind me and DH has a spare room stuffed to the roof with his model stuff. One day... in a galaxy far far away, we'll have the perfect space, too. Keep the pictures coming

Hey Tela, ya know that room full of model stuff? Yeah, I'd go for that at this point! LOL! Jo, it is a great room, but, notfurnuthinbutt, I can't roll into Quartzite with it and loaed 'er up for the year! LOL! Ok...even though the work today is not highly photogenic, I guess I've got to run up and get pictures... Be back soon with the update.
