well way back at the beginning of June I took a somewhat extraordinary trip out to the Wyoming boonies.
Here is what I think was my last trip report:

where I showed some of the agates I was finding. I don't think I showed even half of just the agate.
Before we went on our road trip, I thought I may have had a 5-gallon bucket or 2 in the bed of my truck. Well I emptied out the bed and had a full 5-gallon bucket and an overflowing WHEELBARROW full of all sorts of rock.
When I was up hounding, we started finding geodes (had never found one on my own before - pretty cool) - but what I was more excited about was some opaque, solid stuff I found quite a bit of. I don't know if it would be classified as chert, jasper, flint or something else, but it is definitely in the chalcedony family and it ranges in color from dull gray to orange, red, brown, yellow, greenish and more.
I sent a little to bluesky8375309 (never can get your handle right Susan) along with some other stuff mixed in as a thank you for some sweet Lavic breccia she sent me.
I hadn't cut any of my own yet, but finally did a cut on a small nodule I had tonight before bed. WOW!
I dug around the wheel barrow a bit to find a few more pieces, I knew I had more.
This one is nearly completely intact and has this cool oval groove on top:
A few broken chunks from larger nodules:
Then in the bottom of the wheel barrow I found this MASSIVE NODULE that I had forgotten about. This is a very large (like 10#) nodule. It is mostly intact with some large chunks taken off by the millenia. Side first:
And the bottom:
These are really cool. Some have pockets in them so I don't know if they would qualify as thunder eggs or geodes or something else completely.
I hope Susan can post some pics, she was going to slab some of the stuff tomorrow!
Any ideas on what this stuff could be? It fractures conchoidally, often has nice banding and sometimes has very distinct color bands (I have one small chip that is white and red banded with small black lines separating the colors, I need to dig around and find it)
