I have an idea to replace the glass panels in a candle shade with thin pcs of agate. I don't think the glass in there is tempered so agate should work. I'm asking for some volunteer pcs, to put in of the most colourfull and transparent anyone has. I only have jade , which I will use if I have to but would like to use agate. the pcs need to be 1/8-3/16ths thick and 3 3/8ths x 1 7/8ths and I need 6 pcs. Antone interested in giving me a price for a variety or all the same material. thanks Lloyd I'll post a pic of the pc. as soon as this board quits screwing me round, sometimes there is a link for attachments but not now?

Aw man, I have one black and clear with a lot of orbs and swirls in it that would be awesome but it is too small. I will check and see what I have. Probably do not have anything else that thin though. Jim

Lloyd... maybe give Hand2Mouth a holler and see if they can cut slices that thin out of their colored obsidian for you? If thin, it's definitely translucent, and you might get the rainbow colors:P.
I don't have any agate that size... you'd have to have one big CLEAR agate rock, then, you'd have to have a machine that can slice that thinly and evenly... pretty hard to find anyone who can do that and get 6 panels out of it... so the Obsidian may be the better bet:).

I am in the process of cutting my pink agate and if I find a good stone I will cut a thin slab for you if you decide to go with different agates. I would also cut a set for you but I would have to charge something for that. It would be pretty cheap though. Jim

Thanks folks; I'm pretty patient but yeah, I might have to do it with the jadeite allthough I was hoping to get something with more patterning but now that I think of it; I was cutting some of the lilac yesterday that I made the cab I posted out of and it would look awesome if I don't find something else. I guess intarsia might be an idea too. I'm going to have to redo this thread to post pics I guess. All the other ones allowed it?
