Soapstone.
Should be able to scratch the bottom really easily with a kitchen knife.

No expert here or anything, but if it is harder than soapstone it could be alabaster or onyx.

I thought it was marble from Pakistan distributed by Pier One etc. It was inexpensive but 25 cents is still an excellent price.
