Just arrived from Tony today and didn't have a chance to open till now as Blaze had to get to the vet tonight... Here she is, the final element...Directely from Catmandew...or Tony on the West coast... a 10" Highland rebuild!...hereafter, affectionately known as "The Franken-Saw!" Tony...which end is up? He really does an excellent job of packaging! Tony, we've got to talk about the motor and oiling as I have no clue... I'm seeing some serious fun here!!!!! There's been some serious help along the way with this whole project... Randy, in advisement... John and jsgems for some top notch new stuff...but in the end, when I needed a saw, I went to Tony and he sure came through with it...and a 25 lb box of rocks that have serious promise for slabbing! You guys have been wonderful and I thank all of you so much for all of your help with this!!!!!! Most of all, my "silent partner" who put in the cabinets and helped me every step of the way on this... Tom, my husband, has been incredibly supportive through all of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now it's done which is seriously good because I've got some cabs to make and sell as the new dog, Blaze needs new teeth... We're gonna get there but it's going to take time...and some serious cabbing! Doing something I really enjoy for someone who has brought joy into our lives... Life should be this hard! Cathy

Ok, I missed helping on the saw so I am going to give a couple words of advice here. You probably better leave the saw in the box because if you take it out you are going to get a lot of snot all over that beautiful rug. I must say though, the rug will be real easy on the knees while you are running the saw. Does that saw have a power feed underneath or is it a hand feed? I would love to have a saw like that for my smaller stones. I could get a lot better cut with that than I can with my hand held trim saw. Jim

Hi Jim, Unfortunately the saw will have to remain in the box for the next two weeks as.... GRANDKIDS ARE ARRIVING WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS!!!!! ... but I might be able to do some drooling over it this weekend...down in the basement where the setup for it will be. It has a gravity feed system with it that isn't hooked up yet so I can have set it up and hopefully have it run through stuff at it's leisure. I can also hand feed with it if I want to. I'm really excited about it and looking forward to burrowing in this winter! :-) As I really don't see myself getting over 4" or so on the rocks, I'm thinking that for me, this is a great piece of equipment!

Nice saw, Cathy! Looks just like mine except I am missing that dohickey on the other side of the blade there! You're gonna really like it & the gravity feed works great!

Woohoo, time with the grand kids. You know that they can touch it and it won't hurt them so you should get it set up and teach them how to use it. lol My grand daughter won't go near mine because it makes so much noise and she is eleven. Just the right age to be learning but showing more interest in the computer. Jim

for sure, get them started young. My daughter was up for the weekend and wanted to so I helped her to cut her first cab; about 2in.x1 1/4in. of local greenstone; her favorite, and then we made a nice pendant necklace for her and she wore it proudly to her friends family reunion. Did I mention she is 27 :<))) She is a starving artist working in Vancouver and as an artist has a really good eye for shape.

Cathy, that's an awesome rebuild. I've been watching your "attic workshop organization" with interest as well. Sounds like you've got quite the setup - attic and basement. Very cool!
Andrew, my elder son (9), has occasionally slabbed a rock. Nathaniel has helped me rebuild our saw/cabbing setup - mostly with questions, advice and company for Dad. Hope you have a great time with the grandkids!!!

LOl! I think the saw may be a little advanced for this trip but the Lot-O is prime for making some serious "treasure" for these pirates! The oldest is 4.5 and the youngest is 2.5 so the Lot-O is going to be incredibly cool to them. I'm hoping to get my son on the Genie, though. I think he'd really enjoy it! Actually, with help and a dop stick, my grand daughter could probably handle it too. We shall see! :-)

Nice looking saw. I've picked up two this year but never got to use either one. Converted both to cash before I could try them out. 10" is a really nice size saw.
