I entered the USFG (US Faceting Guild) Single Stone competition after only cutting 16 stones, and got third place with this one: Not bad for my 17th stone! Sue

Sweet stone, Sue! Looks like the future is a bright one for you! Like Donnie, I’d like to know what the stone is ... Just curious that way, y'know? Best regards, Kris Hand-2-Mouth Mining

It's a CZ (cubic zirconium). In competition stones, you don't want to have to be dodging natural inclusions, etc. Gotta be OCD with the "attention to detail".... The joke is, I like rocks in their natural state...I rarely wear faceted stones! This one sits in a gem box with it's new medal Others will find their way into necklaces.... Sue

Aw, thanks guys.... It's 17.5 ct, cut on a used Raytech Shaw...considered a ghetto machine by most faceters Someone told me a year ago before I started that people had cut championship stones on that type machine...that the quality of the cut depended more on who was doing the cutting than the machine. This may not be true for the 'higher level' cuts, but it seems to be true at least at my level. I'm happy to share it with you all (rock nerds that WE are!) Sue
