A while back, one of my customers gave me some slabs. One was marked burro creek agate. But, this stuff is not in the least transparent and not terribly hard like an agate. I have some rough and cab of Turkish purple jade. These two materials look identical to me. Can someone tell me how to tell the difference or what a burro creek should look like?

The Burro Creek that I've cabbed isn't transparent at all, but is very hard and takes an amazing shine.

I won a slab of Burro Creek (on the right) at one of my club's meetings. This is big, about ten inches long, and has two drusy pockets. It was donated by the person that collected it. The slab on the left was donated by the same person, not sure what it is... it is slightly opaque. Haven't done anything with them yet, waiting for it to cool down. Jean

Thanks! She lady who gave it to me got it from her rock club so I am assuming they would know what it was. I'm sticking with burro creek, but it sooo looks like Turkish jade to me.

It does look like the purple burro creek that I have seen, although I am by no means an expert on the material. The pastelite from burro creek is very hard and takes a high polish.
