Hub, these are much better. The white balance is right and we can see the color in the cabs better. I also use a nikon coolpix.
Something you might want to try is using a cd case, prop it up like an A, put a square of paper on the inside of the case where the album cover goes and use some double sided tape or tacky to mount the pendant onto the case using the side with the white paper. put a couple of desk laps on either side of the cd case and then take the pic. if you have a tripod, use that to hold the camera and the 10 sec timer to take the pic with the camera in macro mode.

If you don't have a suitable tripod, try this. I use the string trick frequently.
This is called Camera Stabilizer.

Man, what a style you developed! I knew there must be a step beyond the classical groove wrap, and you found it. Superb. About the photos, sometimes I find very useful the "auto adjust colors" in the simple photo editor I am using (Irfanview). Sometimes it exagerates, sometimes it doesn't do almost anything, but mostly it brings normal, bright colors to the pic. Adrian PS. Here is your picture: And this one is after "auto adjusting colors": It's worth a click, huh?

they are much better. there is more detail. the auto color correct helped these a lot. I had tried auto color on some of the yellow ones and it did nto recover as much detail.
... and I still love the hammered groove wire!

That looks a lot better, Hub! I have a ridiculously old Nikon coolpix. It has such a great lens and body that I don't want to upgrade it. If you want to get the colors even closer, use a digital gray card to set your white balance using manual white balance. You can get one on ebay for cheap. Go to manual white balance and take a picture of the gray card while it is sitting where your jewelry will be and with the same lights you'll be using. Then exit menu and shoot. That will get as close to a perfect balance as possible. Take a new picture of the card for every lighting/location change. EZPZ You'll be a pro in no time.
