Lynn, those brackets are snow-breakers. They are supposed to slow down the falling snow and to break it into smaller pieces when it slips down from the roof.
Tom, you're right. A lot have been done. Even if the electrical wiring is not as spectacular as the raise of a wall, it is very important and useful in the house. I can say I am lucky to have a team of two ellectricians which not only do good work, but also advice me about the lacks of the electrical scheme which we drew. This way, a few switchers were added to ease our every day life in the future; others were re-positionned.

Hi Adrian, The electrical and plumbing ALWAYS take a back seat to the simple things like the color of paint on a living room wall,,,,,color and type of carpet or wood flooring, etc, etc.People will walk into a home and say,,,,"Oh,,,,what beautiful lights you have",,,,,"and this flooring is amazing"! LOL
These are the things the "average" person sees and knows about but they have NO clue about the electrical work or the plumbing which hides itself,,,,,but does ALL the "work" of the home!
I'm glad that your electricians are not only working for you but also "with" you!It takes a LOT of worries out of you mind knowing you have good men working for and with you!

Hi friends! This week the works continued to the fence at the outside and to the electric wiring at the inside of the house. Here are the pictures. Making the cast for the outside stair in the back of the house: Then the concrete was poured into it: This first step is so high because the level of the yard is going to be raised by earth filling. The concrete pouring in the fence continued: Pouring the concrete in the cast, to form the upper part of the fence: Here is the front side of the fence, with the lower side where the main gate is gonna be: In the meantime, the electrical wiring was finished inside the house; in the pic below you can see what is going to be the lamps and the switchers placed above a bed: Some drywall were also completed. Here is a wall with three hollows where three glass bricks would be mounted. This way, in that room would come a bit more light: And, a couple of pics with the outside of the house: That's all for this week. Next week the works to the fence will continue and the plumbing works would hopefully begin at the inside. Thanks for looking, Adrian

Todd, we haven't packed yet. Still a long time till we move here.
Daniel, we chose most of the tiles. Only Ioana is still undecided for her bathroom. We even bought some of the floor and wall tiling (for basement and for one of the bathrooms). I'm going to take pictures of it and post it here if you wish.
Jo, thank you for your concerns, but Celyabinsk is very far from here, some 3200 km. So we luckilly didn't feel anything. Only TV news looking like the movie "Armaghedon". Scary. I think that area will become the promised land for the meteorite hunters for a while. I wonder how soon would those Discovery Channel guys go there.

Thank you Snuffy. Daniel, here is a pic with the tiles for the basement's walls. We thought that brick pattern fits the walls of a basement: These are the glass bricks to fill the square hollows in the drywall, to improve the light in that room. This is the bath tub for Ioana's bathroom. It's a small bathroom and bath tubs to fit in are hard to find, so once we found it we bought it. We stored it in the loft for the moment. And, talking aboiut the loft, here is the electric wiring for lights and plugs. The wiring is not hidden; for safety, it's mounted into some metalic coiled tube. Here you can see the two lamps and the switcher mounted at the base of the "bird feeder": And some plugs here: Adrian

Daniel, in the basement and all over the ground floor there will be tile.
The upper floor will have laminate hardwood, excepting the bathrooms of course which would be tile.

Hi Adrian,,,, I can't figure out the fence,,,,will it be all concrete or will there be some wood (and or) metal too? And now the bird feeder has lights!Wow! LOL The electrical work is done so differently then over here and I can't wait to see how the plumbing is done! Have you done any thinking about landscaping yet?Plants, flowers, bushes, trees, etc? That hole in the ground so many months ago is becoming to be a house/home and it's VERY exciting to see it all come together!
Thanks for the up-dates and of course allllllll the photos too! connrock

Tom, you can see by now the reinforcemenst of what are going to be the fence pillars. The distance between pillars is about 7 feet. In between those concrete pillars there will be wood. Landscaping? You mean how the yard would look like? Yes we decided about the "green" areas and the paved ones, but that's all; didn't think about what trees to plant where. All we know is that walnut tree in the front of the house and we also plan a small vegetables/herbs garden in the backyard. Here's a picture with the plan of the yard: Adrian

Jo, don't you think there is enough space in the "green areas" for rocks? For example, under the walnut tree hardly grows any other plants, so... Adrian

Hello, friends! This week the works continued with the fence on the outside. Inside the house, the plumbing works begun. Here is what happened on the outside. The pillars of the fence were casted: Then, the crew poured the concrete as you see here: The volume of each pillar is too small for the "elephant" so they had to pour it manually. The seccont step of the backyard stair was poured: They also poured the first step of the front stair: In the yard, we started to fill the terrain with earth. You can see the painted marks. The upper triangles mark the level of the finished yard. The lower triangles are the level of the earth filling. The difference would be covered either with "black" soil for the "green areas", or with pavements for the rest of the yard. In the meantime, as I said in the beginning, the plumbing works begun. A looong waited moment, Tom, right? A crew of two plumbers came on site and they started their works by mounting the copper tubes for the heating: These copper tubes are connected into a "distributor" ... ... and go in pairs to each radiator: That would be all for this week. Next week, plumbing, fence and yard works will continue. Thank you for loking, Adrian
