My SJ Sharkies make the playoffs after a terrible season last year. So... I give up my share of season tickets thinking the Sharks are going to be re-building after getting losing their super stars.
Oh well, it means more money to spend on rocks!
Go Sharks!

Well Wiz and Cal, your Flyers and Sharks seem to be in pretty good shape so far. Both have played very well. On the other hand, the Red Wings have looked a little like the 5 stooges. So far they have kind of looked like Slapshot II without the Hanson Brothers! Wake up Wings!!!

Weather's great here in Michigan too. At least it's better than in Nashville. Looks like Lord Stanley so far has smiled on all of us, Flyers, Red Wings, Sharks, and the Lightning. But in the end, there can be only one.

Amazingly, there are no match ups between our teams in the second round!
I was really rooting for Vancouver to win. Figured they would be tired out after their 7 game series. Also figured that Detroit would get a bit worn out playing the Av's.
It's going to be a tough series for San Jose playing the Av's
Good luck to your teams!

Hey Wiz and Cal, you guys are off to a good start. Too bad I can't say that about the Wings! The Wings are starting to scare me. They lose, and then stand around talking about how well they played. I think that someone needs to tell them that, if you did't win, you didn't play well enough! If Dave Lewis doesn't understand that, he should talk to Jacque Martin, late coach of the Ottawa Senators. The Wings just need to play the game that got them there. At one point, the Wings started playing the "trap" and they haven't used that all season! Sorry for the tirade. Hey Wiz, when I go to a Wings game I always come home with no voice. Ron

Yeah, my Sharks spanked the Av's. Call me a pessimist, but I think the game woke up the Av's that they are in for a tough series!
I would feel more confident if the Sharks had a history of getting past the second round! Unlike the storied history of the RedWings and the Flyers.
The first hockey game I went to the Sharks, their first or second year, was against the Red Wings. The Red Wings look like giants and the Sharks like a bunch of kids! Yes, the Sharks did get spanked, something like 8-1. In those days, I was happy if the Sharks played hard for 60 minutes!

Don't you mean showed up for 60 min? In those days they would play great one minute, then look like a bunch of high school players the next.
adding my 2 cents, Ed

Hey Cal, a lot has changed since those early days in San Jose. I'm always a little anxious now when the Wings play the Sharks. No doubt the Avs have a very powerful team, but they are a lot like the Wings in that they don't always play up to their potential. Up until the playoffs started, I would have said Sharks for sure. I still think that the Sharks have a good chance. It will depend on how bad the Avs want the cup. So far the Wings haven't acted like they really care. To win the cup, you have to REALLY want it! You have to be truly inspired. Kind of like us and our rocks! ;D Ron

See there Cal, your Sharks have got the Avs on the run! Right now I would have to say the the Sharks and the Lightning are the two hungryest teams playing. But there's still lots of time for others to work up an apetite! ;D Ron

Ok Ron,
After last night's game, the Sharks are for real and turning me into a believer. I guess I better jump back on the band wagon!
Go Sharks!

Well Wiz, it's finally over for the Red Wings. Their final performance as dead men skating is over. After the debacle last year, I was looking for some changes and none happened. Hopefully there will be some now. The best hockey that they played all season was when they had 10 of their regulars out injured. The young guys from Grand Rapids played great! Maybe next year we'll see some of them on the team.

Oh man am I feeling good today, the Sharks have advanced another step! What a game last night, the Sharks looked really good last night.
Of course this was expected as I planned on getting home to watch every second of the game. I had to cut off my kid watching Scooby Doo to see the Sharks.
Wiz and Penguin, congrats on the Flyers and Lightening (sp?) advancing.
Ron, I would have expected to Red Wings advance, but I agree with your post, I think the Red Wings are getting a bit old. Hockey is such a long season, the teams need a few young guns for the playoffs.
The Sharks "rested" some of their veterans towards the end of the season, partially because they weren't as effective, and partially because the coach wanted fresher legs for the playoffs.

Thanks Cal and congrats to you and the Sharks also. I think a Sharks,Lightning cup series would be great. And Wiz don't worry I won't bring it up that the Flyers are 0-4 against the Lightning this year.
P.S. to Wiz Thank God for Philly or Tampa Bay would never win any championships. (said jokingly) ;D
