I haven't really been posting much lately because I've been kind of organizing the big picture of my rock stuff in my head so I could start doing that physically. Anyway, I've been looking for dispalys for my pendants and cabs and, while I looked all over the net, couldn't find anything that was really "me." Then while browsing ebay, I came across these type set drawers and jumped. First one arrived on Friday and had about 100 years of dust compressed onto the wood. I've been working on it all weekend and finally finished cleaning it last night. Didn't remember to take pictures before I started but got some early enough that ... well, you'll get the idea. It was quite a job but I really like it! And check this out!!! The thing I think I like most is that all of those cabs I couldn't get the detail or color right on... well look what happened!!! I love it when a plan comes together!!! ;D Cathy

Awesome! If I were to try and find some on eBay, what would I search for?

they are referred to, at least some of the time, as "curio shelf"

Actually no. It's a "type set drawer" or a "printer's drawer." It's what they put the type blocks into for storing between uses. Smaller ones like this are more difficult to find. I ordered several of the larger ones and intend to add plexi or glass tops to them to use as displays at shows. Hard clean up and you need to watch the quality but they are different, I think, and add a lot of character.

Good luck, Geoff! I used Q-tips, Wilbert Oil, Lemon Oil and cotton balls with the eraser end of a pencil to clean it out. Lots of work but very worth it!!! Good luck with the bidding and let me know how you do! :-)

Absolutely perfect idea! Amazing how taking a picture on a wood background brings out the natural colors. I discovered that one myself!

Mix you up a small tub of Murphys Wood Soap to clean these with a little easier. After cleaning is when you add the lemon or orange oil. Scotts Liquid Gold works well for a shine also.
